Update
Despite the continued opposition of concerned citizens in Connecticut, the Legislature and the Governor approved an increase to the excise tax on all tobacco products on May 4, 2011. Effective July 1, 2011, the state tobacco excise tax rates are as follows:
- Cigarettes - $3.40/pack
- Smokeless Tobacco - $1.00/can
- Cigars - 50% of the wholesale price
