SMOKELESS TOBACCO TAX INCREASE FAILS!
An attempt by some legislators to target premium adult tobacco consumers with increased taxes has failed. Thanks to all of you that took time to communicate with your elected official. Your willingness to participate and make your voice heard played a large role in this year’s legislative success and demonstrates that individual involvement CAN make a difference! As a result, the state will continue to tax smokeless products, both premium and discount, based solely on the weight of the product and insures that premium tobacco consumers will not be unfairly targeted with higher taxes.
We will continue to keep you informed of tobacco related issues that may affect you and hope that you continue to be involved and take action.
