New Hampshire Tobacco Tax Increased
The New Hampshire Legislature passed SB 450 which increases the smokeless tobacco and large machine made cigar tax rate from 48.59% to 65.03%. This bill originally proposed as much as a $0.60 per pack cigarette tax increase which was later removed.
Effective June 10, 2010 the state excise tax on premium smokeless products increased to $1.62 per 1.2 ounce can. The state excise tax rate on cigarettes remains unchanged at $1.73 per pack.
Thanks to those of you who have continued to voice your opposition, over the past several years, to taxes that target adult tobacco consumers. We will continue to keep you informed of tobacco related issues that may affect you and hope that you continue to be involved and take action.
