Help Stop Tucson Politicians from Increasing the Legal Age

step1

The Tucson City Council is considering a new proposal to increase the legal age of purchase for tobacco products from 18 to 21 years old.

Raising the legal age to purchase tobacco products would create inconsistencies with how the state and federal government define adulthood for other purposes, including:

  • Serving in the armed forces
  • Paying taxes
  • Voting
  • Getting married
  • Signing a contract, such as buying or selling property

Minors should not use tobacco products, but this proposal to increase the minimum age law would have many unintended consequences. Tell your city council member you oppose this proposal and any other attempts to unfairly target adult tobacco consumers.
